McLaren F1 & McLaren MP4-12C - SingaporeThe 12C sets new standards by being the first car to feature a carbon-fibre monocell that weighs just 75kg, an engineering solution that comes from the highest form of motorsport, Formula One.
A 592bhp twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine developed with Ricardo, the firm responsible for the Bugatti's dual-clutch gearbox, powers the 12C. Paired to it is a seven-speeder that was specially developed with Graziano.
As a result the 12C can do 0-100kmh in 3.3sec and has a top speed of 330kmh. The 12C is also "more efficient than a hybrid car" when it comes to C02 emissions per horsepower.
Other weight-savings include an ESP-based brake steer which optimises traction, standing in for an active differential, and an unconventional interlinked hydraulic struts that replaces conventional springs and anti-roll bars for suspension.
